Singapore Airlines have confirmed that 16 Malaysians were on board flight SQ321.
On Tuesday, 21 May 2024, a Singapore Airlines flight from London made an emergency landing in Bangkok, due to severe turbulence and it has been confirmed by the airline that there were multiple injuries and one fatality.
A separate statement reads that as of 8PM on the 21st May 2024, 18 individuals had been hospitalised, another 12 were being treated in hospitals. There were a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew on board.
"Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight SQ321, operating from London (Heathrow) to Singapore on 20 May 2024, encountered sudden extreme turbulence over the Irrawaddy Basin at 37,000 feet about 10 hours after departure. The pilot declared a medical emergency and diverted the aircraft to Bangkok, and landed at 1545hrs local time on 21 May 2024."

Through video and photo evidence, severity of the situation is vivid. Blood is seen on the roof of the aircraft and cabins destroyed.
Singapore Airlines has offered its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased through their statements. They have also issued an apology to the passengers and crew members for the traumatic experience that occurred.
In recent years we have seen no significant issues involving Singapore Airlines, which is regarded as one of the top airlines in the world and sets the standard for much of the sector.
With this unfortunate incident, the airline is reacting quickly.
As they provide all necessary assistance in this incident, Singapore Airlines is also working with their colleagues and the local authorities in Thailand to further aid.
They have also mentioned in the latest statement posted 12:36 AM, 22 May 2024, that a Singapore Airlines team have arrived in Bangkok, to provide any additional help needed.
