Malaysians are being cautioned about a recent email scam that impersonates the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and targets unsuspecting recipients with fake traffic violation notices, through a tweet posted by Oh! Media. The fraudulent email, written in English, falsely notifies the recipient of a parking offense in a no-parking zone and demands an immediate RM50 fine payment.
In the email, scammers claim to be from PDRM and inform the recipient of their supposed traffic violation. They emphasize the urgency of settling the RM50 fine by providing a clickable link that purportedly leads to a payment portal. Additionally, the email contains a warning that ignoring the fine could result in legal action and an increased penalty.
However, astute Malaysians have quickly recognized the email as a scam for several reasons. Official communication from the police is typically conducted in the Malay language, not English. Furthermore, PDRM does not contact individuals via email for such matters, adding to the suspicion. Many recipients also noted various grammatical errors within the email, further raising red flags.

Concerned Malaysians are urging others to exercise caution and refrain from clicking on any links or providing personal information to such scam emails. It is essential to verify the authenticity of any official communication, especially those related to legal matters, by contacting the relevant authorities through their official channels.
