Who would've thought you could get arrested over a toy gun?
A 15-year-old teenager was taken into police custody after images circulated showing him wielding a firearm-like object at a condominium window on Jalan Kayu Madang in Kota Kinabalu.
The arrest was made by the police from the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters (IPD) at the suspect's residence at approximately 5:36 PM.
Kota Kinabalu's District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah, revealed that the police received information from the public through a WhatsApp group containing viral images of the teenager with the firearm-like object.

Subsequently, a police team conducted a search at the suspect's residence and discovered a fake firearm resembling an AK47 barrel and a counterfeit pistol.
Following an investigation, the suspect confessed to the incident, stating that on March 2nd at 9 AM, he used the fake firearm on a staircase to shoot at several targeted objects.
The teenager admitted to purchasing the two fake firearms at a local store in the city, with prices amounting to RM158 and RM54.
Acting on this information, the police raided the shop selling fake firearms in a shopping complex, resulting in the seizure of numerous counterfeit weapons. During the operation, a 15-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman working at the premises were arrested.

The detained individuals and confiscated items were then transported to the Kota Kinabalu IPD for further investigation. The case is currently under examination in accordance with Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960.
