A job, besides being the main way for us to generate income, is actually a huge part of our lives. It takes up to 9 hours a weekday and there are times where we are forced to bring work home too, taking up more of our time.
Seeing how much time we spend working, it is important for us to love out job. The thought of repeatedly doing something you hate doing isn’t really an appealing one is it?
When you enjoy your job and are passionate about it, you overall have a less shitty live. You will be more motivated and more productive. This helps you stay healthier and happier.
If you are experiencing unhappiness or negativity in relation to your job, then you will have to take the necessary steps to make sure that your health and happiness is taken care of.
Here are some of the signs that you actually hate your job:
1. You’re depressed every morning at the thought of going to work
So, feeling the dread of going to work in the mornings is actually quite normal. However, if you start realizing that you experience this sense of dread every morning without fail, then maybe its just a sign that you hate your job, unless you’re just not a morning person.
2. You dislike your boss and/or your co-workers
Sometimes, when working together, arguments and misunderstandings do take place, but they are eventually solved. If you start feeling a prolonged resentment towards your boss or towards your co-workers that everything they say or do seems to anger or irritate you, then there’s a possibility that you dislike your work environment.
3. You are constantly stressed, negative or unhappy at work
Whether it is the people as mentioned before or the workload or maybe just your day-to-day tasks and activities, everything in relation to your job makes you stressed out, negative and unhappy. While it is normal to feel stressed at work, it isn’t normal to feel it constantly. It could affect your physical and mental health.
4. You have very few sick days left
You’ve made use of most of your sick days, not being sick, just taking a break, until you barely have any left. This just shows how much you hate your job until you’re willing to sacrifice your sick days just to stay at home and not go to work.
Here’s what you can do about it:
1. Start your job search
If you start feeling unhappy and have a feeling that you will do better else where then start updating your resume and then apply for as many jobs as possible. Make sure you do your job search discreetly and quietly.
2. Still do your best at work
Even though you hate it, you still have to do your best at work. Just giving up and not working well, could affect your job prospects, especially if you’ve listed your current employer as your reference.
3. Resign properly
Read your contract once again and identify how many weeks or months’ notice you need to give before resigning. Don’t resign abruptly because that will give your boss a bad impression. Hand in your notice and also offer to provide assistance during the transition.
