Lim Sheng Hui, a Malaysian theatre performer, recently shared a distressing experience she encountered during a visit to a local dermatologist in Bangsar. Her intention was to seek treatment for her moderate acne, but little did she know that her visit would turn into a harrowing ordeal.
Two weeks into the prescribed treatment, she noticed discolouration on her facial moles, which understandably raised her concerns. Seeking reassurance, she reached out to the clinic and spoke to the doctor about her worries.
However, instead of addressing her concerns professionally, the doctor entirely dismissed her worries, claiming he had never encountered such issues throughout his career. Despite her apprehensions, Lim continued with the prescribed medications, only to endure severe migraines and anxiety as time progressed.
Medical reports later unveiled the potential risks associated with the combination of isotretinoin and borymycin, which include an increased risk of skin hyperpigmentation, migraines, depression, psychosis, and anxiety.
To compound her distress, Sheng Hui revealed another unsettling aspect of her consultation with the doctor's alleged sexual harassment. During the session, she claimed that the doctor behaved inappropriately, crossing personal boundaries and making her feel extremely uncomfortable.
"In the guise of an inspection, he spread his thighs wide, came very close to me and envelop my thighs with his. He was so close that my foot was sitting on top of his shoe."

Shockingly, this wasn't the first time the doctor faced allegations of sexual harassment. Journalist Tashny Sukumaran had previously accused him of similar misconduct during her visit to the clinic in 2019. Despite multiple victims speaking out, the doctor has denied all accusations.
Sexual harassment within the medical profession is a matter of grave concern, and these serious allegations demand a thorough investigation to ensure the safety and well-being of all patients.
This case highlights the utmost importance of fostering a safe and respectful environment for patients during medical consultations, where their concerns are treated with empathy, professionalism, and utmost care.
