Teluk Intan is set to become more EV-friendly with the installation of its first public electric vehicle charger. Located in front of the Tune Talk Centre on Jalan Changkat Jong, the 22kW AC charger is just minutes away from the iconic Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan.
Managed by Powerbee, a subsidiary of renewable energy company Solarvest, the charger is listed as "Tai Chong Seafood" in the Powerbee app. While the charging fee has yet to be confirmed, an idle fee of RM1.00 per five minutes will apply after 30 minutes of charging. The charger is expected to be operational soon, according to property owner Michael Seow.
Currently, Teluk Intan lacks any official public EV chargers, with the nearest one located over 60km away in Seri Manjung. However, a more powerful DC charging station is also in the works. Michael, who previously offered a personal charger at his restaurant for patrons, is now planning a new DC charger that will support two EVs at once. Details on pricing and power output remain under wraps, but he assures that the rates will be lower than the national average.
With these new developments, Teluk Intan is taking a step forward in supporting EV adoption, making it a more accessible destination for electric vehicle users.
