A disturbing video has gone viral on social media, capturing a hit-and-run incident that occurred days ago on the North-South Highway near Nilai. The video, uploaded by the Facebook account 'Bandar Baru Bangi Komuniti,' has attracted significant attention, prompting law enforcement to launch an investigation.

Superintendent Mat Ghani Lateh, the Deputy Chief of Nilai District Police, addressed the media at a press conference held yesterday at 5PM He revealed that the police had come across a six-second video that claimed to capture the hit-and-run incident. The footage was shared by the aforementioned Facebook account.

Following the discovery of the video, the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division of the Nilai District Police Headquarters conducted an initial investigation. Their findings indicated that the incident occurred around 7:15AM two days ago at the North-South Highway.

According to Superintendent Mat Ghani, the accident involved a motorcyclist who was traveling in the left lane. As the motorcyclist was riding, a Proton Persona car, approaching from behind in the same lane, grazed against the motorcycle. The impact caused the motorcyclist to lose control and collide with a Perodua Ativa.

What is particularly alarming is that the driver of the Proton Persona did not stop at the scene of the accident. Instead, the driver fled the scene, leaving the injured motorcyclist behind. The motorcyclist suffered minor injuries to their hands and legs and was promptly transported to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban for further medical treatment.

In light of this incident, Superintendent Mat Ghani urged any witnesses, especially those who shared the video on social media, to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation. He specifically requested that anyone with relevant information contact Sergeant Chandra Miqael Puang, the Assistant Traffic Investigating Officer at the Nilai District Police Headquarters. Sergeant Puang can be reached at 011-10622659.

Hit-and-run incidents are serious offenses that endanger lives and violate traffic regulations. The viral nature of this video underscores the power of social media in raising awareness about such incidents, but it also highlights the importance of cooperation from the public in providing crucial information to assist in investigations.
