In a heartbreaking incident, a one-year-five-month-old baby boy has tragically passed away in Kampung Raja, Besut, Terengganu, due to suspected abuse. The baby's mother, a 27-year-old woman, has been taken into custody to aid in the investigation.

According to Superintendent Abdul Rozak Muhammad, the Besut District Police Chief, the young mother had entrusted her child to a friend for care around 4:00 PM the previous day. However, the child was returned to his mother at 7:30 AM the following day in an unconscious state, showing signs of bruises on various parts of his body.

A post-mortem examination has revealed a ruptured small intestine in the baby as the cause of death. It remains uncertain whether this injury resulted from trauma or a bacterial infection.

Authorities have initiated an investigation under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, addressing issues related to child abuse, neglect, abandonment, or exposure.

The police are actively seeking a male suspect in connection with this tragic incident. Members of the public who possess information relevant to the case are urged to contact the investigating officer, ASP Mohd Faiz Che Mat, at 014-6329916 or 09-6956222.
