Selangor Football Club, Faisal Halim appeared for the first time after his recovery at a press conference today, 13 June.
Looking completely shaken up, Faisal says to guarantee the safety of his family, he is willing to give up his job and tens of thousands of dollars in salary.
As a matter of fact, Faisal who happens to be in Harimau Malaya as well, is prepared to shift to a job confined to his hometown in order to eliminate any potential threats, like the horrid acid incident that nearly claimed his life.
"Saya cakap pada isteri, ayah, abang-abang saya... saya tak kisah. Saya nak balik kampung duduk tenang, saya boleh bekerja walau sehari (gaji) RM50 atau RM100."
The incident of being splashed with acid on May 5 was one of the darkest moments in the life of Selangor FC footballer, Faisal Halim.
He says he is willing to lose his salary and lose his job as long as he is safe and that his family is safe because right now, everyone is living in fear.
However, Faisal said the support given by Malaysians as well as Selangor FC Board Members, made him feel motivated to continue fighting.
The 26-year-old player stated because of the assurance for his and his family's safety from Selangor FC's management, particularly Chairman of the Selangor FC Technical Committee Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar, he still has the strength to proceed further with his career.
According to Faisal, he is now eager to undergo a physical and emotional recovery process to return to action on the field.
The Penang player previously suffered fourth-degree burns after an unidentified person attacked him with acid last month. After the incident, he was in critical condition and required four surgeries at a private hospital in Shah Alam to treat his burns.
Faisal was discharged from the hospital on 25 May 2024.
