"On the way back from Pulau Payar after diving, this magnificent whale decided to steal the spotlight! It was mesmerizing to watch!" read the caption of the video on Facebook.
The uploader also apologized for the video's slight shakiness, explaining that it was due to the overwhelming excitement of witnessing such a breathtaking moment in person.
The whale's graceful display left viewers in awe, sparking a flurry of comments from netizens who expressed their amazement.
"Wow, so cool to see it live right in front of us. Subhanallah. Usually, you only see it on TV," wrote one commenter, Nur Ain Arifin.
Another commenter, Max Purnama Masura, shared a personal anecdote, saying, "I've seen one there before... even the ferry followed it... but then I missed my flight."
When contacted, KSL instructor Shafila Ismail revealed that the video was recorded last Sunday at approximately 1:20 p.m.
"At the time, I was with 11 guests on two boats heading back after diving and snorkeling activities in Pulau Payar's waters when we encountered the jumping Bryde's whale," she said.
While the rare sight excited her guests, Shafila explained that such encounters are not uncommon for her.
"After six years in this field, bringing tourists for diving and snorkeling activities, I've often come across Bryde's whales and whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) leaping during our trips," she added.
