The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has issued a directive to universities, emphasizing that they should not reject students who are unable to afford registration fees for their tertiary education.
Anwar's directive comes in response to reports of families, particularly from Ampang and Tambun, stating that they had to decline offers for their children to pursue higher education due to financial constraints, particularly the RM1,800 registration fees.
In his address at the Finance Ministry's monthly assembly, the Prime Minister announced this historic directive, stating, "For the first time in history, I have issued the directive this year, none of our children can be rejected by the universities."
He also highlighted the role of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), which provides a Grant of Loan Advance (WPP) amounting to RM1,500 for each eligible student.
The initiative primarily benefits Malaysian students whose parents or guardians are recipients of Rahmah Cash Aid (STR). Its aim is to ensure that no student is denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to financial difficulties.
Netizens' opinions are pouring in with mixed reaction following this directive from the prime minister. What do you think about this? Comment below.
