MACCs Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) has released a statement on their official website, just yesterday.
"A few law enforcement officials who lack integrity view the surge of undocumented immigrants, foreign workers, and students into this country as a terrific opportunity to profit from bribery."

According to him, "this group is frequently targeted by law enforcement, regardless of whether these individuals do have a work permit, student visa, or without a permit and/or PATI status."
"This is a sad and difficult incident to swallow, but it frequently happens to foreigners." He continued, "this is the fact, and it gives Malaysia a very negative reputation. It is becoming more and more common and concerning that law enforcement personnel, who serve as the first line of defence for the country, are corrupt."
He also added that it's no longer acceptable to use the frequently heard defence that "it is an isolated incident" to downplay how avaricious the law enforcement officials are in this case.
He ends his statement by firmly stating that responsible law enforcement agencies must take strict measures in response to this critical issue.
