In a devastating incident on the Kuala Kedah Road near a gas station, a woman lost her life when the motorcycle she was riding with her sister was struck by a car driven by a 14-year-old teenage girl.
The incident occurred when Nur Syafiqah Abdullah, a 32-year-old woman from Kampung Ulu, Kuala Kedah, was riding her motorcycle with her sister, Nooraliza, aged 43. The sisters were on their way from the traffic lights at Taman Bersatu towards Kuala Kedah when disaster struck. The car driven by a 14-year-old teenage girl losing control, veering off the road, and colliding with the motorcycle ridden by the two siblings. Tragically, Nur Syafiqah lost her life at the scene, while Nooraliza sustained injuries.
The Acting Chief of Police of Kota Setar District, Superintendent Syed Basri Syed Ali, was quick to respond to the accident. He noted that they received the distressing news at 7:05 PM, and the inclement weather at the time, with rain and wet road conditions, may have played a part in the accident.

"The accident is believed to have occurred when the driver of the car, coming from the opposite direction, lost control, veered off the road, and entered the path of the victims before colliding with their motorcycle. As a result, the motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger suffered bodily injuries," Superintendent Syed Basri explained.
According to Superintendent Syed Basri, the young driver only sustained a minor nose injury. However, an examination revealed that she did not possess a driver's license, and she was not attending school.
"The car is believed to belong to the friend of the teenage girl's mother. A summons was issued to the vehicle owner for allowing an underage teenager to drive," Syed Basri added.
Further investigations are currently being conducted.
