According to Sin Chew Daily, the Minister of Defense, Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob stated today (May 8) that the fourth phase of Movement Control Order (MCO) might be lifted by the government on 2 or 3 days before May 12. May 12 is supposed to be the last day of the fourth phase of MCO.
"I don’t know whether it will be extended or will end soon. The Minister of Health will advise the government under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act of 1988 (Act 342) on whether will it be necessary to extend it (MCO).
"Possibly two or three days before the end of the fourth phase of the MCO, the government will make an announcement. Wait patiently for the announcement!"

Meanwhile, he emphasized that shopping malls or any commercial centers cannot amend the laws themselves, and prohibit anyone without a mask from entering.
He pointed out that under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act of 1988 (Act 342), it is not illegal to not wear a mask. The government encourages people to wear a mask, it is not a compulsion.
