PDRM has taken a man into custody in connection with a viral incident that occurred at a dining establishment on Jalan MJC Batu Kawa, Kuching over the weekend.
Deputy Police Chief of the Padawan District, DSP Lim Jaw Shyong, has reported the successful apprehension of the primary suspect, a 24-year-old man.
According to DSP Lim, the report they received pertained to a case of intentional injury and was filed by a 37-year-old individual at around 1:09 PM. The complainant had received a distressing message on Facebook, recounting an incident in which a foreign woman was allegedly coerced into consuming an unidentified liquid from a glass before being subjected to physical assault by a male suspect at the mentioned establishment.
In response to the report, a team of officers from the Padawan IPD Criminal Investigation Division swiftly arrived at the scene, successfully locating not only the main suspect but also the victim and a male companion of the victim.
The victim was subsequently referred to Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) to receive further medical treatment, and she was treated as an outpatient. All individuals who witnessed the incident were also called upon to provide their statements at the Padawan Criminal Investigation Division Office.

DSP Lim indicated that the case would be thoroughly investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which stipulates a maximum penalty of one year in prison, a fine, or a combination of both. Furthermore, he pointed out that they had reached out to the Indonesian Consulate in Kuching, facilitating the referral of the victim to the consulate for appropriate assistance and support.
The police also emphasized that it did not involve any elements of gangsterism or organized crime. Therefore, the public s advised to refrain from engaging in negative speculations regarding the incident while the investigation is ongoing.
