Tragedy struck on the Pan-Borneo Highway as a car skidded off the road and collided with a road barrier near the Alam Bumi Factory, resulting in the loss of a young woman's life and injuries to five other passengers on board.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Center issued a statement, confirming the identity of the deceased victim as 20-year-old Diana Tinsie Douglas. The news has left the community mourning the untimely passing of a young individual.
Responding promptly to the emergency call at 4:36 PM, a team from the Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) rushed to the scene to carry out rescue operations. Upon arrival, the BBP Batu Niah team was met with a harrowing scenea car that had skidded off the road and collided with an iron road barrier on the left side of the road, heading from Bintulu to Miri.
The impact of the collision was devastating, tragically resulting in the iron road barrier piercing through the car's body and protruding through the rear of the vehicle.

Upon thorough assessment, the fire and rescue team discovered that one victim was still seated in the rear passenger seat. Swift action was taken to ensure her safety. The team initiated the operation to extricate the victim from the vehicle and subsequently handed her over to the police for further necessary actions.

In a display of solidarity and compassion, members of the public took it upon themselves to assist the five other injured victims before the arrival of the fire and rescue team. These individuals were quickly transported to a nearby clinic for immediate medical attention.
