A green turtle was discovered wandering on the road near Pantai Teluk Lipat late last night, an unusual sight that caught the attention of local residents.
Tengku Aziz Tengku Yahaya, 53, was driving alone at around 10 p.m. when he noticed someone waving frantically to signal him to stop.
"I thought it was an accident, but when I got out of the car, I saw a turtle in the middle of the road," he recounted.
According to Harian Metro, the turtle's large size and weight posed a challenge for Tengku Aziz and several residents who tried to carry it back to the beach.
"Fortunately, there were people around. Otherwise, the turtle might have been hit by other vehicles. A young man eventually stepped in to help, and the turtle made its way back to the beach," he said.
Tengku Aziz speculated that the turtle had come ashore to lay eggs but became disoriented, ending up on the road, approximately 400 meters away from the beach.
"I'm thankful to see the turtle return to the beach and swim back into the sea," he added.
A video of the stranded turtle has since gone viral on social media, capturing the moment the young man assisted the turtle back to its natural habitat. Netizens have widely praised his act of kindness and quick action in ensuring the turtle's safety.
