I believe that many people are aware of the outbreak of Wuhan Coronavirus that recently caused many deaths and issues globally. There are infected patients all around the world other than Chinese even if the outbreak happened in Wuhan, China. People have been asking questions about how this disease can be spread? And people have been terrified as rumors said that Wuhan Coronavirus can be spread through the air.

So is it possible for this contagious disease to be spread through the air?

According to The Straits Time, there is no proof saying that the virus can be spread through the air. Experts believed that the virus can be commonly transmitted through fluid, such as mucus or saliva of an infected patient.

Leong Hoe Nam, one of the infectious disease experts mentioned that the virus is most likely to die after the fluid dried up. Other experts stated as well saying that if the virus can be transmitted after the fluid dried up, the number of infected patients will be more as compared to now.

Previously, Mr. Zheng Qun, a Shanghai official explained that the virus could be transmitted through aerosol transmission or the mixture of the virus with airborne fluids. He further expressed that this would allow the virus to remain in the air and thus infecting those who inhale it.

Another infectious disease expert, Mr. Feng Luzhao, who works at the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention added in his opinion, stating that the fluid carrying the virus could travel only about 1m to 2m and will not linger in the air.

So, fear not people, you no longer have to hold your breath or worried that you might catch the virus when you’re in a public space.
