A 22-year-old student from a local IPTA found herself in court on Thursday, facing charges of inflicting serious injuries on her close friend using sulfuric acid. R. Keertana Naidu, also 22, was additionally charged with possession of corrosive substances with the intent to harm Nurul Husna Rahim, who is also a student at an IPTA.
During the court session presided over by Judge Nik Habri Muhamad, Naidu pleaded not guilty to both charges brought against her. The alleged offenses took place at the Health Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Kubang Kerian, at approximately 4:23 pm on May 3rd.
She is accused under Section 3 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958, which carries a potential imprisonment of up to three years, along with possible corporal punishment, upon conviction.
