In a recent account shared on social media, an Indonesian woman recounted her disappointing experiences with perceived rudeness during her visit to Singapore. Having studied in the city-state in the past, she expressed her surprise and disappointment at the stark contrast between her memories of a welcoming Singapore and her recent encounters.
The woman narrated an incident at the Singapore S.E.A Aquarium where an employee allegedly yelled at her child without apparent reason, leaving her puzzled and upset. Additionally, she described a less-than-pleasant experience while boarding a taxi, further contributing to her overall dissatisfaction with her trip.
Reflecting on her previous time in Singapore, the woman noted a significant change in the behavior of people. She claimed that, compared to her earlier study period, individuals she encountered during her recent visit appeared to be more impolite. Furthermore, she remarked that the quality of food had declined since her time as a student.

Taking her sentiments to TikTok, the woman posted about her experiences, prompting a flood of comments, predominantly from Singaporeans. Some Singaporeans responded by suggesting that individuals she perceived as rude might not be Singaporeans but rather Malaysians, Burmese, or Indonesians. Others expressed frustration, stating that Singaporeans themselves are facing challenges due to an influx of people from "third world countries."
