Malaysian automaker Perodua has been approached by English football powerhouse Manchester United for discussions on a possible sponsorship agreement, as confirmed by Perodua chairman Asmat Kamaludin.
According to Asmat, Perodua recently received an official letter from the 20-time English champions and is currently assessing a proposal that could see the company's logo featured on the club's jerseys, as reported by Berita Harian.
"As an Arsenal fan, this does feel a little unfair to Arsenal," he quipped, acknowledging the irony of the situation.
Despite his personal allegiance, Asmat recognized that Manchester United's interest reflects Perodua's increasing prominence on the global stage. "We will take it into consideration," he stated, suggesting that the company is carefully reviewing the offer before making any commitments.
This potential collaboration emerges amid a trend of Malaysian brands forming strategic alliances with international football clubs. Just last year, Manchester United signed a multi-year partnership with Malaysia Airlines, designating the national carrier as the club's official commercial airline.
Should the deal materialize, it could be a game-changer for Perodua, enhancing its global brand visibility through association with one of the most celebrated football clubs. For now, the decision remains pending as Perodua continues its evaluation of the proposal.
