A drag racer had lost control of his motorcycle during a performance at the Sultan Abu Bakar Lake Park Speedway circuit yesterday, in an incident that was caught on camera.
The individual in question, identified as 22-year-old Muhammad Hattem Rashdi, tragically succumbed to his injuries at Kuantan's Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) last night after a grueling 15-hour battle for his life, stemming from severe head injuries.
According to Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin, the Police Chief of the Pekan District, preliminary investigations reveal that Muhammad Hattem Rashdi was one of the 50 participants engaged in a racing training program. This program was jointly organized by MUSC Motorsport in collaboration with the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and the Dragster Community at the aforementioned circuit.
During his run, Muhammad Hattem Rashdi lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the track. He was promptly transported to HTAA Kuantan for further medical attention.
However, at 3:45 PM yesterday, the authorities received the grim confirmation of the victim's passing.
The case is presently under investigation pursuant to Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. That being said, initial findings indicate that the training program had secured permit approval from the Pekan Municipal Council. Authorities have determined that the accident resulted from the rider's failure to maintain control of the motorcycle, resulting in a loss of control, skidding, and a subsequent fall.
