In a tragic incident today, a motorcyclist lost his life after skidding and colliding with the highway barrier at Kilometer 166.6 of the East Coast Highway (LPT) One, near the Maran exit.
The Maran District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Mohamad Zamri Mohamad Zaber, reported that the accident occurred at approximately 10:55 AM. The victim, identified as 29-year-old Muhammad Lokman Abdul Aziz from Kampung Talang Masjid, Kuala Kangsar, was en route from Kuala Kangsar, Perak, to Kuantan to participate in the RXZ Fighter Gathering 2024 program.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was traveling with a group of friends on 14 motorcycles from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan. The tragic incident occurred when the victim's motorcycle lost control, skidding to the left side of the road and colliding with the highway barrier.

"At the time of the accident, the victim was in the rearmost position of the motorcycle convoy. Interviews with the victim's friends indicate that the loss of control led to the unfortunate crash," stated Mohamad Zamri in a media release.
Tragically, the victim succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on initial police investigations, it is believed that the accident occurred due to the rider's failure to control the motorcycle, resulting in the fatal outcome. The case is now under investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, specifically for riding carelessly and causing a fatal accident.
