The concert featuring British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran on Feb 24 will proceed as scheduled at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, according to Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
He confirmed that discussions with the Committee for the Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes had been conducted.
Responding to the Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor's call for a Muslim boycott due to Sheeran's support for the LGBT community, Fahmi emphasized that a thorough screening process involving 16 agencies, including the Malaysian Islamic Development Department and Home Ministry, is in place. The minister stated that if necessary, the ministry would address the matter further.
