A seller named Mohd Amirul Azmir Md Akhir, aged 33, was sentenced to 15 days in prison and fined RM3,500 for committing criminal violence against a civil officer. The verdict came after he pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.
The incident in question occurred at Dataran Alor Setar, Lebuh Raya Darul Aman, last Thursday around 11:38 PM. Amirul was accused of using criminal violence to intimidate an Assistant Enforcement Officer of the Alor Setar City Council (MBAS) while they were carrying out their duties. This resulted in a physical altercation, during which Amirul reportedly kicked and threw a small bench at the officer.

Subsequently, Amirul was charged under Section 353 of the Penal Code for his actions. Amirul also issued an apology to the MBAS enforcement team.
Ultimately, the court imposed a fine of RM3,500 along with a 15-day prison sentence on Amirul. Additionally, an eight-month imprisonment term was set in case the fine remains unpaid.
As of now, Amirul has not paid the fine and has been transferred to Pokok Sena Prison to serve his sentence.
