The Health Ministry has advised the public to use food-grade gloves to handle food preparations.

This is in response to a TikTok video allegedly showing a teenage restaurant owner preparing meals while wearing yellow cleaning gloves. The young businesswoman in the video cleaned her hands with soap before donning the gloves.

It is still dangerous to wear gloves that aren't intended for food preparation, even though she cleaned them before preparing the components. Powder-free nitrile gloves are acceptable for food prep since they leave no residue, according to the Health Ministry.

Powder coatings are frequently applied inside cleaning gloves, particularly latex gloves, to facilitate donning and taking off the glove without running the danger of ripping. Additionally, the powder improves grip and reduces perspiration.

To avoid cross-contamination, the Health Ministry emphasized that gloves used for food preparation should not be reused more than once.

After the post was made by the Health Ministry on their official X page, there were quite several netizens who shared their comments and opinions on the issue. One of the netizens said they could understand why the woman used yellow gloves instead of nitrile gloves.

They added that since nitrile gloves are often short, the woman's arms would get discolored when she dipped them in the mixture.

This prompted another person to point out that the woman could have mixed the ingredients with a ladle to make the meal prep procedure a little more sanitary.

A health inspector at TikTok recommended the business owner use the appropriate gloves in the future.
