Next year, a trial for a toll payment system without barriers will be initiated, according to Deputy Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad. He mentioned that the system is currently in the study phase and added, "Now, in the process of studying the barrierless toll payment system, we will attempt to implement the system in 2024 at a more suitable rate."
These details were shared in response to a question from Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, a Member of Parliament from Alor Star, in the Dewan Rakyat.

Abdul Rahman outlined that the system would incorporate Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) through the Multi Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system. This initiative aims to improve highway management, especially in terms of toll collection, ensuring that users can make payments without encountering congestion.
There are currently 416 RFID lanes operating across highways throughout the country. Countries like Singapore and Australia have already implemented such system and Malaysia is to follow suit.
